Throughout the Fall of 2022 and the Spring of 2023, Malatest is conducting the Transportation Tomorrow Survey (TTS), one of North America’s largest surveys. Conducted every five years since 1986, the TTS supports transportation planning in the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH) and surrounding areas by collecting information on the travel patterns of residents. This important research is funded by a number of agencies, including the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO), Metrolinx, the TTC, and municipalities across the GGH and surrounding areas.
The survey asks residents about where, how, why, and when they travelled. Even if no trips were made, collecting data from residents who do not travel is just as important as collecting it from those that do. This will help build a snapshot of the travel patterns of the population as a whole. Results from the TTS will allow city planners and other stakeholders to make decisions that affect travel now and in the future, including travel by vehicle, bike, train, bus, and walking.
Residents are randomly selected to participate in the TTS based on geography. If you receive a letter in the mail or a phone call on behalf the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, you’re eligible to participate in this important travel survey! The TTS can be completed online at tts2023.ca or by phone at 1-877-216-7786. Professional interviewers are ready to complete the survey over the phone, in up to 25 languages. We are aiming for more than 180,000 survey completions from GGH residents between September 2022 and June 2023.

It is essential that we hear from residents across the GGH and surrounding areas, as this will help us better understand the different transportation needs and travel patterns of all residents of our region.
