Understanding Red Deer’s Travel Patterns
The 2024 Red Deer Household Travel Survey is a significant data collection effort aimed at understanding the daily travel choices of Red Deer residents. This survey, conducted by Malatest on behalf of the City of Red Deer, plays a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation in the City of Red Deer. The results of the survey will help the City of Red Deer to understand residents’ travel patterns and will contribute towards policy and decision-making in alignment with The City of Red Deer’s Multimodal Transportation Plan.
Survey Questions and Outreach
We’re undertaking this research to support the City’s Multimodal Transportation Plan. The information you provide will be used to make informed decisions on future planning for roads, public transit, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, and other transportation facilities. Starting in September 2024, survey invitation letters (including details about the survey) will be sent to randomly selected households. The City has updated its website to inform residents about the survey and the importance of their participation.
Survey participants are eligible to win some great prizes (a gift basket of local merchandise valued at $500, or one of 40 gift cards for a recreation centre valued at $25). More information about the project can be found at www.reddeerhts.ca.
Malatest’s Role in the Project
Malatest has extensive experience conducting travel surveys. We implement an online survey option utilizing our Triptelligence™ survey platform. This allows participants the flexibility to complete the survey online or by phone, making it more accessible to a broader audience. Our methodology includes sampling from the universe of the City’s households for which a listed telephone number exists, as well as those households that do not have landlines. This process ensures that collected data is representative of Red Deer’s diverse population, including young households, newcomers to Canada and households without a landline phone.
